Roni Peskin-Mentzer, President
Roni Peskin Mentzer has been a member of Marin Breast Cancer Watch since the organization's founding in 1995 and served as Board President from 1999-2003. Roni had an active role in creating MBCW's first community-based research study, the Adolescent Risk Factor Study. The Adolescent Risk Factor Study was conducted in conjunction with Dr. Margaret Wrensch, an epidemiologist at UCSF, and funded by the California Breast Cancer Research Program. She received a BA degree in education from Brooklyn College and has worked primarily in office design. Roni was found to have breast cancer in 1992, propelling her to become proactive in the breast cancer community. Currently, Roni is on a leave of absence due to a recurrence of breast cancer in 2003.
