There are many ongoing programs and activities as well as special events at Marin Breast Cancer Watch.


Fundraising Events


The Dipsea Hike: July 26, 2023

This year's Dipsea Hike will take place on Saturday, July 26th. The Dipsea Hike/Run is a fun, healthy and challenging way to increase awareness of breast cancer and show how committed we are to work together as a community to prevent breast cancer. There is no better way to promote a healthy lifestyle than by hiking/running the Dipsea for a cause that affects so many women right here at home.

The Tamalpa Running Club is one of the major sponsors of the event. Tamalpa Runners are encouraged to volunteer to assist in the run and also to participate in the event. The Tamalpa contact is Jerry Leith, who can be reached at 415-924-5037 or jerryleith@aol.com.

Registration Information: MBCW will provide snacks, beverages and music at the Mountain Theater. Space is limited to 500 participants so don't delay and sign up today!

Registration fee: $25

Start: Old Mill Park, Mill Valley
Time: Registration from 7:30am - 8:30am; Runners begin at 8:30 am and Hikers start between 8:30 and 9:00 am
Parking and Shuttles: Parking available on a first come, first serve basis at Mill Valley Middle School. Shuttles will run from that parking lot to the registration area from 7:00am until 8:45am. If you would like to use the shuttles, please make sure to be there early!

From the Mountain Theater, shuttles will run from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm. They will bring participants back to Mill Valley Middle School, and there will also be a stop at Old Mill Park.

**It would be ideal to arrange for your own transportation, if possible.
  • Collect another $25 or more in donations and get a free Dipsea Hike/Run T-shirt. (min. $50 donation)
  • Collect another $75 or more in donation sand get a free Dipsea Hike/Run T-shirt and a souvenir poster created by artist Douglas Andelin (min. $100 donation)
  • Collect the highest donation amount and win our Grand Prize!
Signing up is Easy!
  1. Complete the registration form and send it back to us along with your $25 registration donation. You may print out the online registration form and send it in, or you can call us at 415-256-9011 and we'll mail you one.
  2. Collect donations from donors (family, friends or co-workers.) These will be collected the day of the event.
  3. Show up and have fun! Don't forget to bring running/hiking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and water.


Train for the Dipsea Hike/Run!

Beginning in June, Carole Rumsey, Founder of the Marin 50 Walk for Breast Cancer, will lead bi-weekly group training walks through Marin and the Marin Headlands. The training walks will range in distance and difficulty level and are specifically geared towards building your mileage, strength and endurance. Beginners to advanced walkers are welcome. Un Giorno di Bocce
September 13, 2003   9:00 am to 4:00 pm

What: Un Giorno di Bocce (A Day of Bocce)
When: Saturday, September 13, 2023 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Marin Federation Bocce Courts at Albert Park
550 "B" Street, San Rafael, CA
Ticket Donation: Teams of 4-6 players may register for $250 per team.
Individual players may register for $45.
Spectator tickets for adults are $20; children are $10.

This premier San Rafael community event will bring together more than thirty-two teams in a fun and relaxed atmosphere to play Bocce Ball, the sport that has captured the Bay Area. The purpose of "Un Giorno di Bocce" is to raise awareness and raise funds to help Marin Breast Cancer Watch find the preventable causs of breast cancer, through community-based research, education and public policy advocacy.

The organizers of "Un Giorno di Bocce" invite community members,families and friends to join in the fun by signing up as an individual player, forming a team of 4-6 fellow bocce players, or joining the growing list of sponsors and donors for this benefit.

No experience is necessary to enjoy the game of Bocce - the novice can play with the veteran! Instruction will be available from 9 am -10 am on the day of the event. In the tradition of Italian bocce, complimentary food, beverages and lively conversation come with the price of admission.
